Yoni koota is worth 4 of 36 points. Each Moon nakshatra has one of 14 classical yonis (Ashva, Gaja, Mesha, Sarpa, and so on). The same yoni scores 4. Other pairs are looked up in a 14 by 14 matrix and can score anywhere from 4 down to 0. Kundaligram uses that full matrix from the bride’s yoni to the groom’s. It does not reduce Yoni to “same animal is good.”

Fourteen yonis from the Moon nakshatra
The yoni is an Avakhada property of the nakshatra, not of the Sun sign and not a literal animal fate. Ashva (horse), Gaja (elephant), Mesha (ram), Sarpa (serpent), Shwana (dog), Marjara (cat), Mushika (rat), Gau (cow), Mahisha (buffalo), Vyaghra (tiger), Mriga (deer), Vanara (monkey), Nakula (mongoose), and Simha (lion) are the fourteen names in Kundaligram’s table.
Two different nakshatras can share a yoni. Two people with different Moon signs can still score 4 if their nakshatras map to the same yoni.
Why a shortcut table is not enough
Popular blogs often say only “same yoni 4, enemy yoni 0.” The classical matrix is finer: many mixed pairs score 3, 2, or 1. Enemy pairs are specific. In Kundaligram’s matrix, Ashva with Mahisha is 0, Gaja with Simha is 0, Mesha with Vanara is 0, Sarpa with Nakula is 0, Shwana with Mriga is 0, Marjara with Mushika is 0, and Gau with Vyaghra is 0. The reverse cells match those zeros. Other crossings are not automatically zero.
The lookup is bride row by groom column, so the report names both yonis rather than hiding the arithmetic.
Instinct language, kept calm
Teachers describe Yoni as physical temperament and comfort between partners. That is a traditional gloss, not a medical or moral finding. A zero is 4 points withheld, not a declaration that two people are incompatible in life.
Set the score beside Gana and Tara, which also come from the nakshatra, and beside the actual seventh-house picture in both charts.
What Kundaligram will not invent
Some traditions add extra friendship stories around each animal. The product scores the published matrix and stops there. It does not add secret bonus points, and it does not drop the koota because a blog used a shorter list.
If you are comparing Kundaligram with another app, compare yoni names first. A different nakshatra from a different ayanamsa will change the row before the matrix is even consulted.

- No. Yoni is taken from the Moon’s nakshatra at birth.
